A Ganthore Manual ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ()Introduction ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Greetings. I am this manual was made by Mark Austin aka (Ganthore) the owner of (www.silverstrike.org) I make special manuals that help designing games easier and better. As you have noticed I droped the old manual from long ago that was posted on Don's site. I have added new features and other things that I have picked up during my time as a RPG Maker. ~Mark Austin ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1) Make very good looking images 2) Impot MP3 Music 3) Make corrupted game disks work 4) Make smaller files 5) Make games work without the RTP 6) Make a on game CD 7) Make a char sprite for the face 8) Last minute notes 9) Credits 10) Authors Comments ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1)Make very good looking images ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Okay. The way to make good looking images can be done is a few different ways. So for me to make this short and sweet just do the following. 1. Get I-Draw off of Don's site 2. Use what ever you want for the image creation Now all you have to do is use the image creator to make a image. (I prefer to use Fireworks) When you make the image you want all you need to do is copy that image and paste it into I-Draw and it tweeks the image to be a little bit lower in resolution and it actually works! Thats what I have been doing to make Fate's Edge. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 2) Import MP3 Music ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Importing MP3 music is very easy. You need Music Match. (This is a really good MP3 player) Go to www.musicmatch.com and download the MP3 player. Now when you run the MP3 player there is a command in it that let's you convert files. Just tell it to convert a MP3 that you have to a "WAV" file. The only problem is that it takes a little bit to load when you play the game. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 3) Make corrupted game disks work ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- There is a very simple way to make a game disk work. If the setup program brings up an error, all you have to do is run the ziped file that came with it and extract it. (I have not found out why the setups screw up alot yet) ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 4) Make files smaller ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The way to make your files smaller so that you can upload the files faster is a little complicated if you do not know how to manage files that well. run the import program n RPG Maker 2000 and tell it to make the files you have into "XYZ" instead of "PNG" It only reduces the files by 1k but thats still smaller. Also make a readme file with your program that tells people to paste a run file which is the RPG_RT.EXE file. You should delete that file and tell people to paste a copy of it in the game. I makes the game smaller by about 700k. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 5) Make games work without the RTP ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- To make a game run without the RTP just put all the needed files in your game directory, delet the RTP files in the folder, paste your game files in the folder, and make a game disk telling it to include the RTP. (It will think the ones you pasted are the orignal RTP) ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 6) Make a game on CD ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- To make your game on a CD so people can play it just make a game disk and paste it on the CD after the game disk is complete. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 7) Make char sprite for the face ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- To make your character sprite show on the menu instead of the face just make a face set and paste the char in it. I did this for Fate's Edge. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 8) Last minute notes ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- E-mail me at Mark@boone.net for further questions.
