My name is Don Miguel (I'm Russian, 'ya know!) I'll solve all your RM95 probs here! ^_^ ---------------------------------------------- Q: I just downloaded the RPGmaker95+ and when i go to open something that I saved it says: GDI Error 3 ??W~YK? what am i doing wrong? A: You JUST used "SAVE AS.." menu item. It's totally wrong! Becuz it saves ONLY .RPG file!!! But all rest of your files contains into this folder still: C:\Programm files\ASCII\RPGMaker95+\\ So.. if you wanna save your game to other drive, etc. then: 1. Create new game. 2. Save it by "SAVE" menu item (or by GFX SAVE-ICON at the toolbar) 3. Copy or move WHOLE your game folder from C:\Programm files\ASCII\RPGMaker95+\\ to a folder where u want. (to C:\MyQuest\ or G:\GAMES\MyGame\ etc.) And only after that transfer your game will be fully loadable 8-) NOTE: If you have used some MIDIS or BMP files from other folders at your local drives. Then do not move them too. Becuz RM95+ could not find all those files during the making GAMEDISK ---------------------------------------------- Q: What's the difference between GAMEDISK and Game Folder? A: Your "game folder" is the folder, where RM95 saved your game. And "GAMEDISK" folder is an empty folder for the "compiled" game. You can easly create this folder anywhere at your C: or D: drives. NOTE: Do not use "File\Save as..." menu item Ever!!! Or else you'll lost your game. (Not exactly, I always found the last saved version of my game in the C:\Program Files\ASCII\RPG Maker 95+\YOUR GAME....it can be recovered there.) ---------------------------------------------- Q: I have download some RM95 games. But they're wont works in my RM95 editor... GDI Errors, etc. A: Becuz they're "compiled" games. ---------------------------------------------- Q: When i making the GAMEDISK then i getting this message "-e2---WriteError!" or this "Your GAMEDISK folder not found!" What i did wrong? A: You did not read HELP file. You must choose the right folder with your GAMEDISK folder. Just create C:\GAMEDISK or D:\GAMEDISK empty folder. Then go to "File/Make Game Disk" menu item. Select "No Compression" Then choose "C:\" or "D:\" (where ever you created the GAMEDISK folder). In other words... you must select THE PREVIOUS/PARENTAL folder of your GAMEDISK folder. Example: by default, your game is save in C:\Program Files\ASCII\RPG Maker 95+\YOUR GAME. Complie the game in the C:\Program Files\ASCII\RPG Maker 95+ directiory (the previous folder) before your game. After that u should be able to find your "compiled" game at your GAMEDISK folder. Note:(Do not use other hard drives! RM95 could not works with Z:\GAMEDISK\ or a something.) ---------------------------------------------- Q: I can't make GAMEDISK still! And my RM95 is crushing every time I ran it. "GDI Errors and stuff" A: Ok. You must install RM95+ only on its default path! Reinstall it. And do not change ANYTHING during the installation. ---------------------------------------------- Q: I did GAMEDISK!!! Hurray!!! But... it wont works... "user32.dll" error or a something... A: Ok. You have try to run it in Windows95. Update your Windows to Windows98 (or W98 SE). Or just reinstall your RM95+ with "CUSTOM" option. Then you will get a new "BUG_FIX" folder. You'll find another GAME.EXE in that folder. There is another GAME.EXE in that folder. Just replace your GAME.EXE file into the GAMEDISK folder by that bug_fixed file from the "BUG_FIX" folder. It'll worx fine into W95. ---------------------------------------------- Q: Can i help you, dear Donny boy? A: LOL. Just click at the links with the commercical stuff at my main page: http://rpgmaker.chat.ru/ Thank you very much! ---------------------------------------------- Q: Can you change the 'image menu' (bit maps) so I can have more options for my game like new characters, or locations? A: No. ---------------------------------------------- Q: please, tell me how to use the tilesets and the charaset that I create and download? HELP!!!!! SKYLER OF THE FORBIDDEN wrote : A: OK ,TO USE A CREATED OR DOWNLOADED CHARACTER SET 1.OPEN YOUR GAME FOLDER 2.OPEN CHARA.BMP 3.OPEN THE CHARACTER SET YOU MADE OR DOWNLOADED 4.COPY AND PASTE THE DOWNLOADED OR MADE CHARACTERS TO THE CHARA IN YOUR GAME FOLDER TO USE A DIFFERENT MCHIP 1.SIMPLY COPY THE MCHIP TO YOUR GAME FOLDER MAKE SURE THE NAME IS MCHIP 1 ,2,3,OR 0 OR IF YOU ONLY WANT TO USE CERTAIN TILES COPY AND PASTE THE TILES TO THE MCHIP IN YOUR GAME FOLDER ---------------------------------------------- Q: i put a short sword in a treasure chest on my game and when i play the game, it won't let me equip the short sword. I put my hero as a soldier and it still won't work, HELP!!! A: Ok, what you should do is go into the "item editor". Over on the far right side(of weapons and armor) you should see some numbers. That shows what character can equip it. So just click on the numbers and change which guys can use what item. ---------------------------------------------- Q: i want to make an event so that i can put down random normal enemies in this area and than at the end of an area i would fight a boss. but how can i make this boss a different enemy from the others i encountered?also after i defeat the boss how can i make it so that the enemies won't appear in that area no more? is all this possible A: Ok, to make random enemies, go to where the map name is(on that sidebar) and right click on it. Click the "setup area", then click & drag over the area you want the enemies to be in. Then you use the monster editor, make your monsters, and click the "setup appearance" button. Set it up so that they appear in that area you just set up. For a boss battle, use an event with the "cmbt" setup with the right guy to attack you(you can use the monster editor to make him). I don't know how to get the enemies to stop attacking, though. You could always have your main character teleport to an identical map that doesn't have the random battles, or something like that. ---------------------------------------------- Q: I just need to ask...How do you take screenshots of your game??? Someone told me to push print page on my keyboard and I tried that but it don't work!!! Gem < 207.176.195.62> wrote : A: You test play in small screen mode (as apposed to full screen), press 'Prt Scrn' key. Close the game and program. Open a paint program and click the 'Select' button (the button in the top right corner of the Tool Box in MSPaint). Then right click in the window and select 'Paste'. That will paste the image into the paint program. Piece of cake huh. ---------------------------------------------- Q: Help! I follow directions with the monster editor, but while I play, I never encounter them, even if I set the encounter rate at 100% A: 1. You must add the monster to the monster party. by "ADD" button of your MONSTER EDITOR. 2. Be shure that you choosed RIGHT "Land type" for monster party. Land - Flat Land Fr - Forest etc. 3. If you have set monsetr party area as a whole map with forest, so... if your monster party have "Land type" = Land, then u'll never meet them here. 4. Read all about Encounter rate at my HELP file!!!!! It's not a precents... it's the Number of Steps which u mpust do before you meet this monsters. 5. If you wanna set 5 party of the monsters to one map... set the SAME encounter rate to all theirs parties. Then they'll appears randomly. ---------------------------------------------- Q: How does the 'flash' special effect work? A: It worx only in FULL SRCEEN Mode. Flash1 Make the fast screen flash Flash2 Make the two fast screen flashes Flash3 Make the long screen flash It's all explained in my HELP file!!!! ---------------------------------------------- Q: Help! I ran out of game switches! What do I do? A: Save your game switches for finding items only. ***There is a cheap solution of making duplicate maps of one location (as in after some kind of 'check piont' item, boss fight, etc. in the game. It will also give the the illusion of interaction. ***For example: You have to save the princess, so everyone in the castle is saying 'save the princess' In this case, the story check point is after a boss fight. ***To make sure that the player deals with the boss, put a telportation point behind it, and the boss directly in the way. (the teleportation point will take your character to more duplicates but with different dialogue and options....) ***Here is where it is handy to use a switch point... before the fight, the boss is there, but after, the boss is gone.....OR in the event editor, make the boss have a dramatic death scene by changing with the event image....and some sounds and effects. ***Access it after the fight, and you will be teleported to the start of the cave (in this case a duplicate, and simply have the enterance seal off.....) ***But what if the hero does not got to this point and simply heads out from where he came from? After the fight? ***Simple, on the last section of the map teleport to go to yet another duplicate section and simply have the exit there sealed off..... of course you can put a switch point there for before or after the player deals with the boss so that the player will have a chance to rest equipt and save the game. Many players get mad if they can't do that...=*_*=....Of course if you want to make it harder or to save a switch point, just put a save point somewhere. Let the player take it from there. ***So to sum it up, in this senerio (with out placing treasure chests) You can use only two switch points, but you can work your way around it. ***Granted that it take up a little more space, but it will also give the desiginer the option of inserting 'sub-quests' to make the game more exciting. ---------------------------------------------- ---------------------------------------------- Thanx to Angela Gonzales for a great help.
