------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The PROPER way to convert mp3 files into wav format WITHOUT the lag and WITHOUT a HUGE filesize. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This tutorial was written by Ninja666 E-mail: ninja_6_6_6@hotmail.com Go to my website! http://ninja666.tripod.com/ ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Please E-mail me for permission if you want this tutorial on your website. If you place this tutorial on your site, it MUST NOT be edited in any way. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Steps: 1- Get an mp3 ripping program, just search for it they're simple enough to find. 2- Rip the desired file or files from your CD OR uncompress the mp3 you want to convert, into wav format. At this point, your mp3 has been decompressed into an 11 Megabyte per minute wav file. This is WAY too large for RM2k as it will lag, and it will also make the zip of your game HUGE. If you took the music straight from a CD, it will already be in wav format. 3- Close ALL programs, and disconnect from the internet. THIS IS AN IMPORTANT STEP. IGNORING THIS STEP COULD LEAD TO AN EXTREMELY LAGGED COMPUTER, AND MAY ALSO INFLICT DAMAGE. 4- Open the big wav file in SOUND RECORDER. (start, programs, applications, entertainment, sound recorder). This will take a while to load, I reccomend you go do something for a good 10 minutes, this depends on the song's size though. Smaller wavs won't take so long. 5-Go to file, click on SAVE AS. Now a little save box will appear. Click on the CHANGE... button. Here is the major part. 6- Save the wav as a PCM 16bit 22,050Hz Mono. This format is best as RM2k recognises it and the file is small, and the quality of the sound is still very good. Now, that big wav should now be under 1 megabyte in size! Depending on how long the song is, of course. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- If the file is still too big, try making it 8bit. If it is STILL too big for your liking, lower the Hz and see if that helps. You MUST Keep it PCM otherwise RM2k Cannot handle the wav. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- If you want more information or help, E-mail me at ninja_6_6_6@hotmail.com ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ŠNinja666 2000 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
